Sentient building

To us, every object we make is unique. We maken no art, we’d sooner cathegorize it as healing. We make functional wooden power objects. We have no special gifts, we do not program our objects.

We are simply one with what we make. We work with open senses,

We work with very obvious dynamics.

We are Sentient Builders

Sentient built

When I work with wood. It feel ast hough earth light and cosmic light join together, celabrating their meet in embodyment and biodynamics.

Sentient Building is a meeting between man, wood and All-what-Is, in which all three have an equal input in what, how and why is built. Sentient Building provides gateways to the source in a simple, grounded way, that is useful for healing and balance in our lives.

Handmade

At the Maalstroom we work with old-fashioned hand tools such as handplanes, chisels and hand saws. We do this because we notice that it deepens our connection with the wood and it improves energetic properties.

Only Wood

Iron is noisy, energetically speaking! So we only work with solid wood. To ensure the strength, we make wood screws ourselves. Wood joints can often surpassed the iron screw. A bench made of wood, just wood!

Het Bouwen van een Craniotafel is een Cirkel van Creatie & Eenwording

Sentient building has a number of basic principles and basic steps to which we adhere. It is an earthly spiritual process in which there is no veil between energy and matter. It is all there at once.

Building a table is according to the following step-by-step plan:

In the exploratory phase it is about ……. orientation.

Here we talk about personal preferences. It’s about getting to know the Maalstroom energy. To see if the way we working suits you.

Actually it’s comparable to a thorough anamnesis

The focus is the framework in which all aspects are described which must be met. The most important part of this fase is to get the feel of the table.

Then we take some time to let things work out. Let ideas come. Get a feel of what kind of wood is needed. And where we could find what we call the ‘chosen’ wood. But before we continue we put our intentions ans agreement in black and white.

Choosing the wood is almost a sacred process. There’s not just one supplier for ‘chosen wood’. There are several places in the Netherlands where we can go. We usually know where we need to be through the field. Chosen wood that awaits for us is eager. When the customer comes along in the searching process, usually nice things happen. Helping to seek out wood usually gives a good impression of how we work.

An then, at last, woodworking can start. Mostly we stort of to do the rough work with help of machinery. But soon our handplans and chisels come of their shelves. We work from rough to fine. We sense what shape the table want to become. We ask the table how it wants to become. And then at some point there’s a basic craniotable. Not jet fine tuned. But palpably yours.

First contact with your table is sensational. It’s like meeting your old friend.

We test sitting positions. We test laying comfort and make adjustments where needed.

Overseas? Sadly we have to skip this moment. But we have video, Skype and our great sense of trust and adventure that things will be exactly the way you want and need them to be.

Then comes the process of finetuning and refinement. We only use scrapers and handplans, since sandpaper closes the pores, which is not good for the energy. De table isn’t ready until every wood cell is oriented to the ‘middle one’.

All that’s left then is to oil the table.

And finally shipment. We will have to consult about this if your address is overseas from us.

The power of Sentient Building is unification

The power of Sentient Building is unification

Sentient building is the method we use to get to inspirited creations.
Sentient Building uses our capability of conscious awareness during the process of making in wood.

Sentient building lets us  touch trough matter, connecting to the soul of what we make.

This is where we work at the wholeness of things.

This is really where we build.

This is where we balance things out.

Where we refine and treasure it with love.

In matter, the living, deep expression of loving connectedness  shows itself as biodynamics. Biodynamics are the expression of soul. Free biodynamics inspire wholeness. This is how sentient woodworking creates gateways to the one.

This is how it heals, it doesn’t. It just inspires oneness. Healing is the good byproduct of our search for oneness.

Some history

When I came into contact with Biodynamic craniosacral therapy in 2006, a lot of things fell into place for me. The dynamics that I described were apparently already described by Schauberger as ‘original movement’, which comes from the ‘Creative Intelligence at the heart of all manifestation’ (translated Franklyn Sills, 2001, Craniosacral biodynamics, p 56) . In biodynamic cranio sacral the expression forms of ‘original movement’ are integrated into the form of treatment. For example, the midline is used for the therapist to anchor, and for the client to relate the point of balanced tension.

In the woodwork I equate the expression of ‘original movement’ in energetic dynamics with the inspiration of the woodwork. In other words, Schauberger says that biodynamics are an expression of inspiration.

As time progressed, I got better understanding of what caused the biodynamics to appear so alive in the wood. It had more to do with the way of working, than with the fact that I would have a special gift. It was the will to work with and within the heart of creation, which made the objects obtain these qualities. That was what cranio had taught me and what I always had wanted to learn.
